2009 KTSF BADMINTON TOURNAMENT RULES (Bay Area)
Hi Everyone, I saw this Tournament posted online and I am interested in putting a team together. Each team needs to have 8-10 players. The tournament is on September 26th in the Bay. Please see the rules below. If you are interested or have questions, you can also email me at:

The Games
The matches in the Tournament shall be played in accordance with the
Official Rules of Badminton except where modified by the tournament organizers for this Tournament.
In the case where the Official Rules of Badminton appear to be in conflict
with the Rules set out by the tournament organizers, the Rules set by the
tournament organizers shall prevail.
Points & Ranking
The KTSF Tournament is a round-robin style, doubles tournament with 20 teams being divided equally into 4 groups, A,B,C,D (alphabetical letters do NOT represent a skill level). Each group consists of 5 teams. Each team is made up of a minimum of eight (, and a maximum of ten (10) team members.
Teams within each group play at least 4 matches (3 games = 1 match) in the first round of play. The winner of each game will be the first to reach 21 points. A point system determines your team's standing (i.e. if your team wins 2 games, and the opposing team wins one game, your team scores 2 points and your opponent just 1 point). Teams continue to play each other in semi-final and quarterfinal rounds until the top two teams play each other in the final round for first place.
Duration of Matches
All games will have a 2-minute warm – up period before official
commencement of the match.
On Court
It shall be the responsibility of each player/team to be in position on court at
the scheduled time. Failure to do so shall constitute a forfeiture of the game.
If the game is forfeited, the opposing team will be awarded three (3) points.
If both opponents are in default, the forfeited fixture shall stand as a loss.
In the event of any injury or open wound/bleeding, the match shall be halted
while the injury is tended to. A player will have 5 minutes injury time
allocated for treatment, in the event that the injury is not treatable in the
allocated time, the match shall be forfeited. The umpire shall deem if the
player is fit and able to continue the match.
Failure to Play/Forfeiture
If a player/team withdraws from the Tournament before the completion of the
series of matches, all matches it had played till then shall be considered as a
victory for the opposing player/team. All players/teams scheduled to play the
defaulting player/team thereafter shall also be awarded three (3) points as a
victory.
A team refusing to play a match on its program shall be considered as having
forfeited that game unless it advises the Badminton Co-ordinator that he/she
is withdrawing from the tournament. If the game is forfeited, the opposing
team will be awarded three (3) points for a win. A deduction of three (3) points will apply to any team having forfeited a game.
Matches Stopped
Should a match be stopped by an umpire on account of extraordinary
conditions, play shall be resumed as soon as possible with the score standing
at the time of the interruption, and shall be completed to the end of the
regulation time.
Disputes/Appeals
The tournament organizers shall have the authority to deal with and resolve all
disputes, protests, complaints, claims, violations, etc during the course of the
Tournament. Only the player or team in question shall have the authority to raise any
matters with regard to the Tournament.
Dress
The Tournament shall be conducted indoors and all players MUST wear non-marking
shoes. Failure to do so shall deem the player ineligible to take the court.
Appropriate sportswear is acceptable. Inappropriate or offensive messages printed or displayed on players’ apparel is unacceptable and players who do so will be asked to either change their attire or leave the gym for the remainder of the tournament.
Unforeseen Events
Should circumstances arise which are not provided for in these Rules, they shall be
dealt with by the Tournament Organizer and their decision shall be binding on all the
parties concerned.

This sounds pretty cool, I will sticky this topic until the day of the event.
Re: 2009 KTSF BADMINTON TOURNAMENT RULES (Bay Area)
Let's do this.
Doubles only? And maybe I've misread, but no mention if tournament will be broken down by skill level? (A, B, C, D) It appears that D level players can be playing against A level, if they happen to be in the same grouping.

Hi Johnny,
You are right - The A/B/C/D grouping is just to separate the teams into different groups. It is not based on skill level. If more people are interested, maybe we can get more than one team.

Congratulation for getting 3rd place in KTSF open
hi Guys !
Congratulation on getting 3rd place in the KTSF open,
that was an awesome achievement for first trial..
I was told the tournament only for amateur only, how the heck they let someone play in US open enter the tournaments..??.
I want to see the team practice hard..
